New Beginnings for Under-18 Girls

Off the back of another successful season for Stamford AFC Young Daniels, the Under-18 Girls are looking forward to another exciting year of football.
With some changes in the squad and some new opponents, the Stamford girls are ready for our upcoming fixtures. Last season proved a challenge after moving into the Cambridgeshire League; however,
the girls fiercely faced it, winning their first five games of the season in-a-row.
Last season, the squad was mostly made up of younger players who were finding their
feet in more physical football for the first time, and we could not be prouder of them.
This has also given them a taste and time to exceed in their abilities, benefitting greatly
from the coaches and surrounding support from other players.
Coach Calum Booth said: “I think next season will depend on what players are added to the squad. We are a good group, but we have lost a few important players, particularly in attack.”
“As with any season,” Booth added. “My hopes are that the team continues to develop, but the most important thing is that everyone enjoys it.”
With our pre-season training starting this week, the team is ready to develop and succeed further this coming season. Unfortunately, Calum is taking a step back this year, however he says our other coaches, Brian Jones and Pete Jackson are “both fantastic coaches with similar ethos to mine, so it’s in safe hands”.
Calum is an extraordinary coach, and the team will miss him very much. Next season proposes new opportunities for this team, and we hope to achieve great success throughout it.
Brian Jones states: “I’m very much looking to next season with this squad, and a huge
thank you to Calum for everything he has done for the team.”
We welcome Brian in his new role as head coach as we begin preparation for this spectacular season coming.
Following a streak of successful tournaments in the past couple of years for this
fantastic team, including winning the Leicestershire Girls Football Tournament, placing
second in the Lincolnshire Women’s and Girls League and making it to the final in the
U16 Challenge trophy 2024, we strive to succeed in future competitions next season as
well.
Again, a huge thank you to Calum from the entire team for his time and effort that he
has put in over the past few years in helping the squad to develop and enjoy themselves.
We wouldn’t have been able to achieve such things without him.
